NYS has put a temporary ban on guiding in New York under the "PAUSE Executive Order" until further notice. While we have already stopped doing any trips before this went into effect for everyone's safety, we're still are booking trips for the fall. This it a tough time for all of us and I've been reaching to clients about their dates booked and deposits and I want to thank all my clients who have rescheduled or have been generous to allow me to keep the deposit. If you have any questions, or want to book a date for later this year please email, text or call me at (518) 495-2965. Thank you for your cooperation during this time.
Still time to get in on the “ Winter Special” - limited dates in early March. Open Dates - Spring peak dates I have open are April 4, 5, 12, 26 & May 2 & 3. Swing, Strip, skate or Indicator, pick your passion. Call or Text 518-495-2965. Trout Spey Trip’s Interested in adding another tool to your trout game? Give swinging soft hackles and streamers a try. Swinging for trout lets you fish in bigger flows and reach water you couldn’t with a single handed rod. It also lets you practice your spey skills all summer. We will be out on the Ausable and the West Canada this spring and summer. Interested, give me a call or text to discuss a trip.
We've teamed up with the Douglaston Salmon Run again offering a "Winter Special." Two nights Lodging, a Guided trip and Access passes to the Douglaston Salmon Run for two days. For more information or to book click here or call or text 518-495-2965.
The 2018/2019 Salmon River season is a wrap and what a great season it was. I want to thank everyone who booked with me this season. I know I converted more clients over to swinging flies this year and looking forward to teaching more clients the swing game was strong this year. If you haven't booked your dates for the fall, don't wait any longer. I have only 2 days left for the Salmon Run and only a couple of days open thru mid December.
It's hard to believe we're down to about two and half months of steelhead fishing left this season and what a season. If your looking to get in on the action before it ends in early May now is the time to book a trip. Here are my open dates I have left - March 24, April 6,7,13,14 & 28. I will begin trout trips on the Ausable May 15, if your interested in any of these dates email me or message me on social media.
The 2016 salmon season is underway and picking up speed each day. I think I have seen more salmon in the river this season then all of last year, well almost. The past few days a few hundred fish have been entering the river with no "Big Run" yet. Cooler temperatures are in the forecast, so hopefully that might trigger the first big run of the year (fingers crossed).
#16 Frenchie The West Branch Ausable River has been fishing very good. Good hatches of Hendrickson's, March Browns and Caddis have been coming off. This weekend we jumped around covering a lot of water tight line nymphing and it was very productive using Frenchies on the top fly and constantly changing the anchor fly, but 90% of our fish were on the Frenchie. The Douglaston Salmon Run recently stocked 500 trout from 8" to 20" down the run. Fishing for these fish is a great opportunity to learn the water at summer flows (185 cfs) for the upcoming fall season. Brown trout and smallmouth bass are a blast to catch on light tackle. If your looking to book a trip, now is the time, give me a call (518) 495-2965. .
The Salmon run on the Salmon River is off to a slower start then what everyone had hoped for this fall. So far we have not seen a big run, everyday its a steady trickle to small pods coming thru the Douglaston Salmon Run section of the river. As you can see by Jay's smile it only takes a few in the net to make it all worth it. Still looking for last minute dates?? I only have the Friday October 2nd open due to a cancellation for Salmon. I do have a couple of other guides with a few dates left, don't wait to get in this years run. For the latest reports and pictures make to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
The Salmon season is behind us now and the river is full of Steelhead. We started out mid-October with low warm water and plenty of steelhead that weren't eager to bite. Now on November 1st we have really high water and good water temps and the outside temp is 68 (not bad huh?) and a river full of eager to bite steelhead. Once the flows settle back down we will be set up for a great fall/winter season. My November is full and I have some December dates still open. If your interested in a trip, please call or e-mail to discuss it. Paul
