By |September 15th, 2015|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Who's ready for the coho run?? Will you time it right when they decide to run? Interested in booking a trip it's not to late, I had Sept 19 and Oct 2 open up due to cancellations, also I have a few afternoon dates open as well.  I have a couple of guides who I work closely with that have a few days open too. Give me a call or email me to discuss a trip and we'll get you hooked up. Just in (9/15) - One of the DSR river patrollers just reported that he saw at least 100 Coho and King down in the Estuary at the lower property line.

Salmon Season

By |August 11th, 2015|Categories: Reports, Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Salmon season is just around the corner. Hopefully we should see a good run based on statistics and hope mother nature is in our favor this fall. A good source was fishing in the Douglaston Salmon Run Sunday and saw a few salmon moving thru. Could we have another year with a early run? If you haven't booked your dates now is the time, I have only a few days open but I have a couple of other guides working for me that may have it open. Paul

Quick Fishing Update

By |April 13th, 2015|Categories: Reports|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Fishing on the Salmon River has been tough for the first half of April, Hopefully were over the hump and good days are ahead of us. The flows are still high on the Salmon River but we shouldn't see it any higher hopefully unless we get some rain. Rumors say the hatchery is done collecting eggs and the hatchery has plenty of adult steelhead in it waiting to drop back into the river. The ice on the eastern end Lake Ontario is finally gone and that opens the inshore brown trout fishing.   Guides do get to fish once in a while.

Lee's smile say's it all. What we lacked in salmon this year, the steelhead are making up for it. If you’re on any social media sites for the Salmon River area you will see a lot of the big steelhead being caught this year. I'm book solid thru all of November but a couple of the guides I use have some open dates. If you want to get in on some great steelhead fishing click here to contact me about booking a trip.

Steelhead Are Here But

By |October 27th, 2014|Categories: Reports|Tags: , , , , |

There are plenty of steelhead in the river, they just don't want to bite like we want them too. The water temp is just too warm for them to act like they should. The plus side, there's a cold front on the way.  Just like there are plenty of fish, there are plenty of fisherman along the banks of the Salmon River. Respect each other's space and don't crowd in on other anglers space and have a enjoyable day fishing, isn't that why were out there???

Fishing Update

By |September 29th, 2014|Categories: Reports, Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

Fishing remains slow and everyone has theories to where the fish are or even if we are going to get a decent return of fish this year.  Is it because of the flood in 2010? Low water and lack of eggs at the hatchery in 2011?? The cold winter and colder then normal lake temperatures this year??  Or 60% of last years fish at the hatchery last year were two year olds (this years fish) Or all the above. Only time will tell. As I type this there has been some fish showing up at the mouth staged in front. On the plus side there are some Steelhead in the river, if you try to target them you could be rewarded like Blake here in the picture above.

This Season Is A Wrap!

By |May 12th, 2014|Categories: Reports|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

This season is a wrap and what a great season it was. The Salmon run started out early in August and was incredible all the way thru October with some really big kings! Steelhead season started off with a bang too and continued right thru the fall. Those early fish in the DSR made for some great takes for my clients swinging flies. Winter fishing was good if you wanted to do battle with Old Man Winter - Me, I must be getting older, I can't take those really cold days anymore. With the long winter came a extended spring season and as I type this there is still plenty of fish to be caught in the river. We saw some insane numbers come to the net and anyway you wanted to catch them. To top it all off I had Great clients/Friends, so what more could a guide ask for!! Looking forward to seeing everyone this coming season! Just think Salmon Season is only 3 1/2 months away!!! Tight Lines, Paul

Swinging – It Doesn’t Get Any Better

By |May 5th, 2014|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , |

Francois and Sylvain hit it right this time for their annual spring trip to the Salmon River after we had to reschedule due to the river running at 5000cfs. Swinging flies high in the water column was just what they wanted to do and they did. I will let the smiles tell the rest of the story.     Looking forward to seeing you guys next season!
